2. Remove the cylinder head cover.
3. Turn the crankshaft clockwise and make sure all rocker arms move freely.
If rocker arms #1 and #2 move together, remove them and check that the plungers in the rocker arms move freely. If necessary, replace rocker arms #1 and #2 as an assembly and recheck.
If rocker arms #1 and #2 move freely, proceed to step 4.
4. Make sure that the pressure gauge used for testing can show pressure above 400 kPa.
5. Check the valve drive clearance (see chapter "Engine - Mechanical part").
6. Remove rocker shaft mounting bolt #3 and install the VTEC air adapter with washer (thickness about 1.5 mm).
A - adapter,
B - plug,
C - pressure regulator.
7. Unscrew the rocker arm axle mounting bolt No.5 and install the plug
8. Connect the air regulator.
9. Loosen the valve on the regulator and apply air pressure.
- Air pressure - 340 kPa
10. Turn the crankshaft clockwise and make sure that all rocker arm pairs #1 and #2 move together.
If rocker arms #1 and #2 move freely and independently, remove rocker arms #1 and #2 assemblies and check that the plungers move freely. If necessary, replace rocker arms #1 and #2 assemblies and recheck.
11. Remove special devices.
12. Apply fresh engine oil to the rocker arm shaft mounting bolt threads.
- Tightening torque - 29 Nm
13. Install the cylinder head cover.
