2. Remove the 12mm banjo bolt on the fuel filter while holding the filter with another wrench. Screw on the 12mm adapter fitting and secure the special tool.

3. Start the engine. Measure the fuel pressure at idle speed by disconnecting the vacuum hose from the fuel pressure regulator and pinching it. If the engine does not start, turn the ignition key to the ON (II) position, wait two seconds, turn it to the OFF position, then back to the ON position and read the fuel pressure.
The pressure should be 260-310 kPa (2.7-3.2 kgf/cm²).
4. Reconnect the vacuum hose to the fuel pressure regulator.
The pressure should be 200-250 kPa (2.0-2.5 kgf/cm²).
If the fuel pressure is different from the nominal value, first check the fuel pump (see below). If the fuel pump is OK, check the following:
If the fuel pressure is higher than normal, check:
- Is the fuel drain hose or tube pinched or clogged?.
- Is the fuel pressure regulator out of order?see below).
If the fuel pressure is below normal, check:
- Is the fuel filter clogged?.
- Is the fuel pressure regulator out of order?see below).
- Is there a leak in the fuel line?.
