Removal
1. Disconnect the battery from ground.
2. Disable the pneumatic safety system (Chapter 6).
3. To access the wiring, remove the trim at the bottom of the steering wheel.
4. Remove the connector connecting the coil and the pillow module from the holder and disconnect it.
5. Remove the steering wheel side panels and unscrew the airbag mounting screws.
6. Remove the airbag, holding it with the front part away from you.
7. Place the airbag module face up.
8. Disconnect the horn connector.
9. Disconnect the cruise control wiring connector (if installed).
10. Unscrew the steering wheel mounting nut.
11. Set the wheels in the direction of travel straight ahead.
12. Mark the relative positions of the steering wheel and shaft.
13. Remove the steering wheel using a puller.
Caution: Do not tighten the puller bolts more than 5 turns.
Installation
14. Center the cable spiral with the arrow pointing up. To do this, turn the spiral clockwise until it stops, then set it so that the arrow on the spiral faces up, turning the spiral counterclockwise.
15. Install the steering wheel. Make sure the shaft engages with the airbag coil and the turn signal auto cancel ring.
16. Further installation is carried out in reverse order.
