Examination
1. Raise the vehicle.
2. Remove the front and/or rear wheels.
3. Re-install the wheel nuts and tighten to 108 Nm.
4. Check the bearing axial play, which is measured on the hub flange. The rear bearing axial play is measured at the center of the hub cap.
5. Permissible values of axial clearance for front and rear wheels are 0.00-0.05 mm. If the measured values are greater than the specified ones, replace the bearings.
Removal
To remove the bearing from the hub, you will need a press and a split thrust plate.
1. Remove the steering knuckle.
2. On 4-cylinder Odysseys, remove the hub-to-steering knuckle bolts and remove the hub.
3. Press the inner bearing race off the hub.
4. On CR-V and Odyssey V6 models, remove the large snap ring.
5. Press the wheel bearing out of the knuckle (or from the hub).
7. Check the condition of the wheel studs. Replace damaged studs.
