Removal the timing belt and balance shaft belt (Honda Avancier 1)

Caution: Before removing the timing belt, check the water pump (see below).


1. Disconnect the cables from the battery terminals.

Attention:
  • Disconnect the negative terminal first.
  • Before connecting the cables, clean the contact surfaces of the terminals with sandpaper and apply grease.

6. Remove the generator (see chapter Electrical equipment) and the generator bracket (see below).

7. Remove the stopper, disconnect the ground cable and remove the upper bracket (see below).
  • Support the engine oil pan with a jack and a wooden block underneath.

  • Do not use the top cover to store small parts. Before installing the cover, remove dirt with a cloth.

10. Unscrew the pulley bolt and remove the crankshaft pulley (see above).

  • Do not use the bottom cover to store small parts. When installing the cover, remove dirt with a cloth.

12. Loosen the adjusting nut 2/3-1 turn, press each tensioner in the direction of the arrows and tighten the adjusting nut. Remove the timing belt and balance shaft belt.



If only the balance shaft belt is removed, proceed as follows:
  • Secure the timing belt adjuster lever with a 6 x 1.0 mm bolt.
  • Loosen the adjusting nut 2/3-1 turn, press the balance shaft belt tensioner in the direction of the arrow, and tighten the adjusting nut. Remove the balance shaft belt.
