Note: Keep timing chain away from magnetic field.
1. Remove the front wheels.
2. Remove the bottom mudguard.
3. Remove the accessory drive belt.
4. Turn out two bolts "A" fastening the generator bracket, and loosen the bolt "IN" generator mounts.
5. Remove the intermediate roller.
6. Remove the cylinder head cover.
7. Set the piston of the first cylinder to TDC. At the same time, the label "UP" on the crankshaft sprocket must point upwards, and the recesses on the sprocket must lie in the plane of the cylinder head.
8. Make sure that the pulley notch lines up with the benchmark.
9. Remove the coolant pump pulley.
10. Remove the crankshaft pulley.
11. Remove the oil pan.
12. Disconnect the crankshaft position sensor connector and two clips.
A - plug

13. Place a jack under the engine. Put a wooden block between the heel of the jack and the engine.
Note: Be careful not to damage the oil receiver when placing the jack on the edge of the cylinder block.
14. Remove the ground wire and front engine mount bracket.
Engine L15A.
A - ground wire,
B - right engine mount bracket.

15. Remove the alternator, crankshaft speed sensor rotor and timing chain cover.

Removal and installation of the timing chain.

10 - tensioner,

14 - camshaft sprocket.
16. Measure the distance between chain links as shown. If the distance is less than the minimum, replace the tensioner chain.
- Nominal distance - 19 mm
- Minimum distance - 15 mm
17. Apply fresh engine oil to the contact surface of the tensioner.
18. Lock the tensioner "A" screwdriver, remove the bolt "IN" and loosen the bolt "WITH".
19. Remove the tensioner.
20. Remove the tensioner shoe and timing chain guide.

21. Remove the timing chain.
