Valve Rocker Arms and Axles — Checking Clearances (Honda HR-V 1)

Measure the rocker arm axes for both intake and exhaust valves.

1. Measure the axle diameter at the location where the first rocker arm is installed.



2. Set the bore gauge to zero on the axle diameter.



3. Measure the inside diameter of the valve rocker arm and check for any signs of ovality.



Clearance between valve rocker arm and axle:

• Inlet: 0.017-0.050 mm
• Issue: 0.018-0.054 mm
• Limit: 0.08 mm

4. Repeat the check for all rocker arms. If the clearance is significant, replace the shaft and any rocker arms that are worn beyond the specified range.
