If the car was not equipped with an air conditioning system at the time of purchase, it can be mounted and installed at any time convenient for the owner, at any time to install this system on your car, contact a Honda service station.
Control panel for the functioning of ventilation, heating and air conditioning systems
Fan speed selection knob
Turning the knob clockwise increases the fan speed and, consequently, the intensity of the air supply to the vehicle interior. Turning the handle to the extreme right position turns off the fan.
Air temperature controller knob
Turning the knob clockwise increases the temperature of the air entering the passenger compartment.
Air conditioner switch
Button "A/C" designed to turn the air conditioner on and off. When the air conditioner is turned on, the control lamp built into the button lights up.
Heated rear window switch
The switch button is also equipped with a built-in control lamp that lights up when the heating is turned on.
Closed air circuit switch
With this button, the mode of closed air circulation in the passenger compartment is switched on. The button is equipped with a built-in control lamp. When the mode is turned on, the interior of the car is isolated from the atmosphere and the flow of fresh air into it stops. The fan circulates air in a closed circuit. By pressing the button again (the control lamp should go out), the fresh air supply to the passenger compartment will resume.
The handle of switching of the directions of distribution of air
The handle is designed to select the mode of air distribution throughout the cabin.
Note. Air supply through the side deflectors of the instrument panel is carried out in all modes. The general scheme of air flow distribution is shown in the illustration.
Outside air enters the cabin through the central and side vents of the instrument panel.
Outside air enters the cabin simultaneously through the central and side vents in the control panel, as well as through the lower vents that supply air to the driver's and passenger's footwells.
Only the driver and passenger foot wells are supplied with outside air.
Outside air enters the passenger compartment simultaneously through the windshield blower nozzles mounted in the control panel from above near the lower edge of the glass, and through the lower ventilation openings of the footwells.
Outside air enters the windshield through nozzles mounted in the control panel from above near the bottom edge of the glass.
Ventilation grill deflector control
The nozzles of the central air ducts of the instrument panel are equipped with special louvered deflectors that allow you to adjust the deviation of the supplied air flow both in the horizontal and vertical planes. The deflectors are controlled by levers built into the nozzle grille.
The grilles of the side air ducts of the instrument panel have a similar design. In addition, it is possible to completely stop the supply of air through them.
Instructions for the use of ventilation, heating and air conditioning systems
Below are detailed instructions for the operation of heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems in various climatic conditions. The reader is provided with information on how to ensure effective ventilation, heating and cooling of the air in the car, as well as how to quickly remove condensation and frost from the windows.
All systems under consideration operate only when the engine is running. Engine coolant is used as the working fluid for the heater. If the engine is not warmed up to normal operating temperature, it will take several minutes before warm air is blown into the passenger compartment. The operation of the air conditioning system is independent of the engine coolant temperature.
In the vast majority of cases, the best performance of systems that provide a comfortable microclimate is achieved in the mode of supplying outside air to the passenger compartment, the inclusion of the closed circulation mode, especially when the air conditioner is not working, leads to fogging of the windows and an increase in air stuffiness, therefore it is recommended to enable this mode only in case necessary and for a relatively short time, for example, when driving in areas with a smoky or polluted atmosphere. As soon as it is no longer necessary to isolate the passenger compartment, the supply of fresh air to the passenger compartment must be resumed.
Outside atmospheric air enters the heating and air conditioning systems through the intake grill located in front of the windshield and equipped with a fairing. Periodically clean the openings of the intake grille from leaves and other debris that obstructs the passage of air.
Cabin ventilation
The supply and exhaust ventilation system provides air inside the car. Fresh air entering through the front intake grille circulates through the passenger compartment and is then removed through outlets located near the rear window:
- A) Turn the air temperature control knob counterclockwise as far as it will go. Check that the air conditioner is turned on.
- b) Set the air direction switch knob to the position. Closed air circulation mode must be turned off.
- With) Use the blower speed selector to set the desired airflow rate to the passenger compartment.
Cooling the air in the car
1. Interior cooling is carried out as follows:
- A) Turn on the air conditioner by pressing the button "A/C", - the control lamp built into the switch should light up.
- b) Check that the air temperature control knob is turned to the leftmost position.
- c) Install the handle for switching the directions of air supply to the passenger compartment.
- d) At high humidity of the outside air, turn on the closed circulation mode, at low humidity - the fresh air inflow mode;
- e) Use the blower speed selector to set the desired airflow rate to the passenger compartment.
2. If the car has been exposed to the sun for a long time and the air in the cabin is very hot, quickly reduce the temperature in the cabin as follows:
- a) Start the engine;
- b) Turn on the air conditioner (button "A/C"). Check that the air temperature regulator knob is turned to the extreme left position;
- c) Using the fan speed selection knob, set the maximum intensity of the air supply to the passenger compartment;
- d) Partially open the windows and turn the air distribution direction switch knob to the position. Turn on fresh air mode.
Once the interior temperature has dropped to an acceptable level, close the windows and set the air conditioning to normal.
The operation of the air conditioning system leads to an increase in the load on the car engine, so you should carefully monitor the arrow of the coolant temperature gauge, moving with frequent stops and at low speed in a busy city cycle, or overcoming long, steep hills. When the pointer approaches the red range of the scale, temporarily turn off the air conditioner until the engine temperature returns to normal.
Car interior heating
In order to raise the temperature of the air in the passenger compartment, perform the following manipulations:
- a) Start the engine;
- b) Set the air distribution direction switch knob to the position. Closed air circulation mode must be turned off;
- c) Using the fan speed selection knob, set the required intensity of air supply to the passenger compartment;
- d) By turning the handle of the air temperature regulator in one direction or another, set the desired degree of air.
Interior heating with simultaneous dehumidification with air conditioning
When the air conditioning system is operating, the humidity in the car interior is reduced, so the simultaneous inclusion of heating and air conditioning systems allows you to make the air in the car interior warm and dry.
- a) Turn on the fan;
- b) Turn on the air conditioner;
- c) Set the air distribution direction switch knob to the position. Closed air circulation mode must be turned off;
- d) By turning the knob of the air temperature regulator in one direction or another, set the desired degree of heating of the air entering the passenger compartment. In this mode, cold air from the air conditioner is mixed with warm air from the heater.
The joint inclusion of heating and air conditioning systems can be used in any driving conditions when the ambient temperature is 0°C.
Removing condensation and frost from windows
You can clean the internal surfaces of the glass from condensed moisture as follows:
- a) Turn on the fan;
- b) If the vehicle is equipped with the appropriate equipment, turn on the air conditioner;
- c) Set the air distribution direction switch knob to the position. Closed air circulation mode must be turned off. Some versions of the car provide for the possibility of automatically switching on the fresh air supply mode and its air conditioner by setting the air distribution direction switch knob to the position.
- d) Turn the air temperature control knob to such a position that warm air is supplied through the windshield blower nozzles;
- e) Turn on the rear window defroster to remove condensed moisture from its surface more quickly. On some vehicle versions, if the air distribution direction switch knob is in any position other than , the air conditioner remains on. To turn off the air conditioner, press the A/C button.
In order to remove frost or ice from the outer surface of the windshield and side windows, formed after the car was parked on the street in frosty weather, perform the following manipulations:
- a) Switch on the ignition by turning the key in the lock to position "ON" (II);
- b) Set the air distribution direction switch knob to the position. Closed air circulation mode must be turned off. Some versions of the car provide for the possibility of automatically switching on the mode of supplying fresh air and air conditioning by setting the handle for switching the distribution direction modes to the position;
- c) Turn the air temperature control knob to the extreme right position (maximum air heating) and turn on the fan at maximum speed;
- d) Start the car engine.
To speed up the removal of frost or ice from the windshield in very cold weather, it is recommended to first turn on the closed air circulation mode. After the windshield is free of frost, resume the fresh air supply to prevent fogging of the windows.
In the windshield blowing mode, all air supplied to the passenger compartment enters through slotted nozzles located on top of the instrument panel at the base of the windshield, as well as through the side ventilation deflectors of the instrument panel. The glass blowing temperature and the windscreen cleaning speed increase as the engine warms up. To speed up the process of removing condensation, frost or ice from the windshield, you can close the side vents. In this case, all the air will go exclusively to blowing the windshield.
For safety reasons, do not start driving until all windows of the vehicle are clear of condensation and the driver has adequate visibility.
Switching off heating and ventilation systems
To temporarily turn off the heating and ventilation systems, turn the fan speed and air temperature knobs to their extreme left positions.
The need to turn off the systems occurs in the first few minutes after starting the engine in cold weather, as this ensures that the engine warms up more quickly to a temperature sufficient for efficient operation of the heater. In all other cases, keep the fan constantly on to avoid air stagnation in the cabin.
Climate control system
The climate control system can be included as standard on some models and performs the functions of ventilation control, heating and air conditioning in the cabin. The heater and air conditioning maintain the set air temperature. In addition, the climate control system automatically selects the fan speed and distributes air distribution depending on the set temperature.
The direction of air flows entering the passenger compartment from the central and side ventilation nozzles can be manually adjusted using the movable grille deflectors - the deflector control levers are located in the middle of the ventilation grilles. If desired, the air supply through the side vents of the instrument panel can be completely stopped.
System operation in automatic mode
HVAC operation control panel on models equipped with climate control
1 - Handle of the air temperature regulator / button for turning on the automatic mode of the climate control system; 2 - Fan operation control button; 3 - Button to turn off the automatic mode; 4 - Air conditioner switch; 5 - Switch for selecting the mode of closed air circulation; 6 - Button for switching air distribution modes; 7 - Rear window heating switch
Switching the climate control system to automatic operation by pressing a button "AUTO" on the instrument panel. Set the desired air temperature by turning the temperature controller knob. The system display screen should display the inscription "FULL AUTO". The control lamp informs the operator about turning on/off the closed circulation mode.
The system automatically creates the optimal combination of air flows coming through the air conditioner and / or the heat exchanger of the heater, ensuring the fastest heating or cooling of the air in the cabin to the set temperature.
To quickly warm up or cool the air in the cabin, turn on the closed air circulation mode and turn the temperature control knob to one of the extreme (left or right) positions, - this sets the upper (32°C) or bottom (18°С) temperature limit. If the air temperature control is turned to one of the extreme positions, the system will operate continuously without shutting down and heating/cooling the air as efficiently as possible. At the same time, the system does not control the current air temperature in the vehicle interior. If the regulator knob is set to one of the intermediate positions, the system will automatically maintain the set air temperature in the passenger compartment.
In cold weather, the fan automatically turns on only after the engine has been running for a while and the heater is ready to heat the air.
The climate control system is deactivated using the buttons "OFF". The system should not be in a disabled state for any length of time. To avoid stagnation of air in the cabin and the appearance of unpleasant odors, it is recommended to keep the fan on all the time.
Operation of the system in semi-automatic mode
It is possible to manually activate any of the functions of the climate control system when it is in automatic mode. At the same time, automatic control of all other system functions is maintained. Pressing any of the control buttons switches the system to semi-automatic mode, - a control lamp built into the button "AUTO", and the inscription "FULL" should go out on the display.
The air conditioner is turned on and off with a button "A/C". The condition of the air conditioner is reflected in the corresponding inscription on the display: "ON" (Included) or "OFF" (Switched off). When manually turning on the air conditioner, the climate control system does not cool the air entering the passenger compartment to a temperature below the ambient temperature. With the air conditioner running, set a comfortable value for the temperature of the air supplied to the passenger compartment using the handle of the corresponding regulator.
The button with the icon is designed to turn on and off the closed air circulation mode. If the control lamp built into this button is on, therefore, air is constantly circulating in the system, closed in the interior of the car. If the control lamp is off, it means that there is fresh air entering the cabin from the outside, which is previously brought to the set parameters in the climate control system. It is possible to manually turn on the closed circulation mode, for example, when entering an area with a smoky or polluted atmosphere - when the mode is turned on, the control lamp built into the button lights up.
The button with the image of the impeller allows you to manually adjust the fan speed. When the button is pressed for the first time, the fan switches from automatic mode to manual mode and starts rotating at minimum speed. Each subsequent press of the button leads to a step-by-step increase in the speed of rotation of the impeller. The current fan speed level is displayed as a comb on the control panel display. When the maximum level is reached, pressing the button again switches the fan to the minimum speed mode.
Button "MODE" It is designed to switch the directions of air distribution in the passenger compartment. Each time the button is pressed, the modes are switched in a certain sequence, which is indicated by highlighting the corresponding icons on the control panel display. To view all possible modes, press the button four times:
- a) Air enters the passenger compartment simultaneously through the windshield and side window blower nozzles located on the upper shelf of the instrument panel, as well as through the lower ventilation openings;
- b) The main part of the air entering the passenger compartment is supplied to the driver's and passenger's foot wells through the lower ventilation openings;
- c) Air enters the passenger compartment simultaneously through the central and side vents in the instrument panel, as well as through the lower ventilation openings;
- d) The main part of the air enters through the central and side vents of the instrument panel.
When you press the button with the icon, the main part of the air entering the passenger compartment is supplied to blow the windshield, which ensures its quick defrosting. This button has priority and overrides the preset air distribution mode.
When you press the button with the icon, the air conditioning mode is automatically switched on with its influx from outside. For faster effective removal of frost or ice from the windshield, select the maximum fan speed. The air supply for blowing the windshield can be increased by blocking the side nozzles. Pressing the button again returns the system to the previous mode of operation.
The button for heating the rear window is used to remove condensate and frost from the rear window of the car.
Solar radiation and ambient temperature sensors
The climate control system includes two information sensors: a solar radiation sensor mounted on top of the instrument panel, and an air temperature sensor located next to the steering wheel. Avoid placing any objects on top of the sensor and do not allow any liquids to come into contact with them.
