Radio
Inclusion
The audio system functions when the ignition key is in the"ACC" (I) or "ON" (II). In the first position of the key, the power supply to auxiliary electricity consumers is turned on, in the second position, the ignition and power supply to all electricity consumers are turned on. To turn on the audio system, press the handle "PWR" or the button for switching radio bands. The volume level is adjusted by turning the knob "PWR".
When the audio system is turned on, the indicator of the selected radio band and the value of the radio signal frequency to which the radio was tuned before turning off the power are displayed on the radio control panel display. To switch to another radio band, press the band switch button. When you turn on the radio in the U / FM band and tune it to a radio station that broadcasts in stereo, the indicator lights up on the display "ST" (Stereo). If the car is in an area of poor stereo reception, the indicator "ST" starts flashing.
The possibility of stereo reception of radio transmissions in other ranges is not available.
Setting
In any of the three ranges, the radio receiver allows you to tune in four ways: manually (TUNE), semi-automatically (SEEK), automatically by scanning the range and adjusting (SCAN) or automatic tuning to pre-selected radio stations whose frequencies are stored in the radio's memory.
Manual setting (TUNE function) is done with the TUNE key. Press the right or left part of the TUNE key to respectively change the tuning frequency of the radio receiver in the direction of decreasing or increasing, respectively. When the key is pressed and held down, the tuning frequency begins to change continuously. The current tuning frequency of the radio receiver is reflected on the display of the radio control panel. Release the TUNE key once the receiver has tuned in to the desired frequency. To change the tuning frequency by one discrete step, briefly press and release the TUNE key.
There is also a semi-automatic tuning mode (SEEK function). When this function is enabled, the radio searches for a radio station with a strong signal in the current band and tunes in by itself. To turn on the radio in the search mode, press and hold the right or left part of the SEEK key. The search for a radio station with a sufficiently strong signal will occur in the lower or upper subband relative to the current tuning frequency of the radio, depending on which part of the key is pressed. The search stops as soon as the receiver finds the first radio station with a strong signal.
When the auto range scan setting function is enabled (Scan function) the radio receiver searches for all radio stations with a sufficiently strong radiation signal in the current band. Press and release the SCAN button to switch the radio into the band scan mode. The search for radio stations with a strong signal will occur in the entire selected range. When a signal of the required intensity is detected, the search is suspended, and for approximately five seconds the radio receiver receives a radio signal on this wavelength. If no buttons are pressed during this time, the radio will continue to scan the band and search for the next station with a strong signal, which it will also receive for approximately five seconds. If during the scan of the band a signal was found from a station that you would like to listen to further, press the SCAN button again.
Tuning the radio to pre-selected stations. With the help of six buttons, labeled with numbers from 1 to 6, you can enter the frequencies of your favorite radio stations into the radio's memory. In a Type A stereo radio, each button allows you to program one radio station in each band. The design of the type B stereo radio allows using each of the six buttons to fix one frequency in the AM radio band and two frequencies in the FM band (one each in FM1 and FM2 subbands). To program the radio's memory, follow these steps:
- a) Use the appropriate button to select the required radio frequency band;
- b) Use the TUNE, SEEK or SCAN key to tune the radio to the desired radio station;
- c) Select one of the six memory programming buttons for this radio, press and hold it until you hear a short beep;
- d) Repeat operations from the first to the third in order to memorize the frequencies of six radio stations;
- e) Now it is enough to press any of the six buttons for programming the radio receiver's memory so that it automatically tunes in to a pre-selected station, the signal frequency of which is entered in the corresponding memory cell.
6. Radio preset frequencies are erased from memory when out of order (severe discharge or disconnection of the battery, as well as when removing the fuse of the audio system.
Automatic radio programming
With a significant distance from the location of the transmitting stations, the radio receiver can no longer receive signals at the previously selected frequencies. At the same time, it is possible to quickly (in automatic mode) reprogramming the system memory to the signals of local stations.
To enable the automatic memory programming function, press the button "A.SEL", - on the display of the radio control panel the indicator will light up "A.SEL". The radio receiver will scan all bands within a few seconds and memorize the frequencies of the stations with the strongest signal.
The radio memorizes up to six stations in the VHF band (stereo manitol type A) or six stations on the AM band and twelve stations on the FM band (type B stereo). Subsequent tuning of the radio receiver to the programmed stations is carried out in the usual way using the buttons with numbers from 1 to 6.
If the vehicle is located at a considerable distance from a developed network of radio stations, the receiver may not find enough local radio stations with a strong signal to fill all the available memory cells (12 or 18). In this case, when you press the preset button corresponding to a free memory location, the indicator on the control panel display will light up "0"
When the automatic programming mode is enabled, some memory locations can be manually programmed using the setting buttons.
It should be noted that when the automatic programming mode is turned on, the frequencies of the previously entered stations are not erased from the radio receiver's memory. After returning home, press the button "A.SEL" again to turn off the automatic memory programming mode. In this case, using the preset buttons provides access to the frequencies that were originally programmed.
Radio Data System (RDS) (only for car radio type A)
Type A car radios provide the opportunity to use the advanced service functions of the RDS radio data system.
RDS button. If the radio is in the U band (FM), then it can automatically retune to the frequencies of various regional radio stations transmitting the same program, on a long journey, this will save you the need to periodically change the receiver's setting and ensure good transmission reception quality.
RDS information reception functions are activated automatically when the radio is turned on. If the radio station to which the radio is tuned broadcasts in the RDS standard, then the name of the received radio station will appear on the display of the radio control panel instead of the signal frequency. If a program is simultaneously broadcast on several frequencies, the radio will automatically select and tune to the frequency that provides the best reception quality (the strongest signal). These RDS features save you the hassle of having to re-tune your radio if you are in an area with an extensive network of RDS radio stations.
When the car moves away from the RDS transmitting station at a distance where the signal can no longer be received confidently, the receiver remembers the last tuning frequency and displays its value on the display instead of the radio station name.
To turn off the radio's RDS function, press and hold the button "TPA/RDS" at least two seconds. At the same time, the indicator "RDS" on the control panel display goes out.
Indicator "TR". When you tune into an RDS station that is in traffic announcement mode, the display will automatically turn on the indicator "TR". Traffic announcements by such stations are transmitted periodically or as needed in between or during the broadcast of other radio programs in the U band (FM). Therefore, if the indicator on the control panel of the radio is lit "TR", You can hear live traffic information.
TRA function. To find an RDS station that is in traffic announcement mode, briefly (no more than two seconds) click on the button "TPA/RDS". At the same time, the indicator will light up on the display of the radio control panel "TRA". If the radio is already tuned to a station in traffic announcement mode (indicator lights up on the display"TR"), then it will continue to work as before. If the receiver is not tuned to a TP station, or the TP station signal is not strong enough, an audible warning will sound after 70 seconds. Then, every 30 seconds, the radio will turn on a warning signal until the TPA function is turned off by briefly pressing the button again "TPA/RDS". The warning buzzer will be silenced when the radio is tuned to another TP station using the knob"TUNE", buttons "SEEK" or preset buttons.
During playback of recordings on an audio cassette or CD, you will also be able to hear real-time traffic information. When the TPA function is on (indicator lights up on the display "TRA") and tuning the radio to the wave of the TR station, which operates in the transmission of traffic messages (indicator lights up on the display "TR"), audio cassette or CD playback is automatically interrupted as soon as traffic information is broadcast. The indicator lights up on the display while traffic announcements are being received "TRF-INFO". In addition, the sound volume is automatically set to a preset level, regardless of the current position of the volume knob.
After the end of the traffic information broadcast, the radio automatically resumes playback of the recording from the audio cassette or CD.
PTY function. With a brief (less than two seconds) pressing the button "PTY"the PTY function is turned on. This function lets you know the type or genre of the program that the station is broadcasting. For example, if a recording of a performance is being transmitted, then the indicator will light up on the display of the radio control panel "DRAMA". Broadcasting of discussions of any scientific problem is accompanied by the highlighting of the indicator "SCIENCE", etc. If the RDS station is not broadcasting the genre of the program being broadcast, the indicator appears on the display "NONE".
When the radio is tuned to a non-RDS station, the indicator lights up on the display "NO RDS". The PTY function will automatically turn off and the display will return to its original state (in the absence of other commands).
When the PTY function is on, you can use the keys "TUNE"or "SEEK", to quickly find a radio station that broadcasts a program of the genre you want. By pressing the keys "TUNE" or "SEEK" the display will show messages indicating different genres of radio broadcasts, such as "NEWS" (News),"AFFAIRS" (Business), "INFO" (Information), "SPORT" (Sport) etc. As soon as the name of the genre you want appears on the display, briefly (no longer than two seconds) click on the button"PTY". The radio will automatically search for the transmission of the specified genre. If no station is currently broadcasting the selected genre, the display will show the message "NO PTY". Six seconds later, the indicator "NO PTY" goes out, and the automatic search for a radio station by the specified program genre is turned off.
The mode of automatic search for radio stations according to the given genre of the broadcast program is also turned off if, after selecting the desired genre of transmission (with handle "TUNE" or buttons "SEEK") no button has been pressed for five seconds.
News priority indicator. Pressing the PTY button for more than two seconds activates news priority mode. The message will then appear on the display "NEWS" (News). In this mode, the radio will receive first of all news reports from all radio stations, regardless of the previously selected program (only TR traffic announcements are not interrupted).
EON indicator. If a news bulletin is broadcast by a station other than the one your radio was tuned to, EON will appear on the display.
Front/rear stereo balance adjustment. The design of the car radio control panel allows you to separately adjust the volume of the sound of the left / right and front / rear speakers of the speaker system. In the first case, the stereo balance is adjusted, in the second, the front/rear balance.
Sound adjustment
Stereo balance and front/rear balance are adjustable with a button "BAL/'FAD". Pressing the key changes the adjustment mode from stereo balance to front/rear balance, then turning the ring "PWR", adjust the left/right and front/rear speaker volume of the speaker system.
Adjusting the tone of the sound. The tone color of the sound is adjusted using the button "TREBLE/BAS". By pressing the button, the bass and treble adjustment modes are switched. Then, turn the dial "PWR", adjust the bass and treble tone as desired. Next, turn the dial "PWR", adjust the bass and treble tone as desired.
Cassette deck
The layout of the controls for playback of records from a magnetic tape on the front panel of the radio is shown in the illustrations.
Turn on the radio by pressing the button "PWR". Turn the audio cassette over so that the exposed side of the tape is on the right. Then, insert the cassette into the deck's slot. The audio cassette should almost completely enter the receiving window, after which the magnetic tape is automatically loaded into its working position and the recording starts playing.
Indicators made in the form of arrows pointing up and down, and located on the display of the radio control panel, show the direction of movement of the magnetic tape and the number of the track being played. To change track and reverse the film direction, press the button "PLAY" (Playback).
The auto-reverse function ensures continuous playback of the audio cassette: when the end of the tape is reached, the cassette deck automatically reverses the tape rewind direction. In this case, the recording from the second track of the magnetic tape is played back.
The Dolby noise reduction mode is turned on automatically immediately after inserting the cassette into the deck's receiving window. If the tape was recorded without using the noise reduction mode, disable this mode on the player by pressing the button with the icon.
The cassette is removed from the deck using the button "EJECT".
Music search function
The design of the deck provides for the possibility of searching for the desired recording while playing a magnetic recording. The search is made using the fast forward buttons of the tape "FF2, "REW","RPT" or "SKIP".
Fast forward and reverse film. Two buttons "FF" And "REW"designed to turn on the modes of fast rewinding of the magnetic film forward and backward. To rewind the tape quickly, press the button "REW". Fast forward is carried out using the button "FF". At the same time, an indicator showing the corresponding letters will light up on the display of the car radio. To stop fast forwarding or rewinding the film, press the button "PLAY". If the end of the tape is reached in fast rewind mode, the direction of rotation of the cassette is automatically reversed and playback of the recording from the other track of the tape begins.
Skip Mode (SKIP). Skip mode allows you to skip a song or section of an audio cassette tape. To enable skip mode, press the button "SKIP FF" or "SKIPREW", depending on which section of the recording you are going to skip: the previous playback point, or the next one after it. If you want to return to the beginning of the song or section of the recording that is currently playing, press the buttons "SKIP" And "REW" simultaneously. At the same time, the image of the letters will appear on the display during the rewinding of the film "REW". If you want to skip to the beginning of the next song or section of a recording, press the buttons simultaneously "SKIP" And "FF". At the same time, the image of the letters will appear on the display for the duration of fast forward "FF". When the system detects the beginning of the next recording on the tape, the playback mode will automatically start.
Repeat playback of a recording. This function allows you to automatically repeat playback of the same recording repeatedly. The function is activated by pressing the button "RPT". At the same time, the radio control panel displays the message "RPT". When the end of the current recording is reached, the tape will automatically rewind to the beginning of that recording. The player will continuously play the same recording as long as the button "RPT" will not be pressed again.
The implementation of the service functions described above for skipping and replaying a record is based on the use of free spaces between individual fragments of a record on a magnetic tape. These service functions may not work correctly if the duration of pauses between individual recordings is too short, or if the background noise level in the pauses is too high. In addition, if there are pauses inside the fragment, they will be perceived by the player as gaps separating individual records on a magnetic tape.
Caring for your radio
During the operation of the car radio, the magnetic head of the cassette deck is gradually contaminated with deposits of dust and particles of the magnetic layer that have fallen off the film. If the magnetic head is heavily soiled, the sound quality during playback of recordings deteriorates. In view of the foregoing, it is necessary to regularly, every 30 hours of operation of the deck, clean the magnetic head.
Careless care of the radio and violation of the agreed schedule for cleaning the magnetic head can lead to a situation where the removal of accumulated deposits with a conventional cleaning cassette will be impossible.
The design of the deck provides for the possibility of automatic unloading of an audio cassette, which for some reason cannot be played normally. If the cassette is ejected before playback has begun, it may be damaged and should not be attempted to reload such a cassette. Occasionally, audio playback may stop, the deck reverse mechanism may operate once or twice, or the cassette may be ejected. Typically, such phenomena occur due to jamming of the mechanism, or as a result of uneven resistance to rewinding the magnetic tape on the cassette reels. In this case, you need to remove the audio cassette and manually wind the tape a few turns of the reel.
The cassette deck of your car radio is designed to accept audio cassettes up to 100 minutes long. Using a higher capacity cassette with thin magnetic film may cause the deck to fail or warp the tape.
Carefully inspect the audio cassette before inserting it into the deck's slot. If the magnetic film has significant slack, tighten it by rotating the spool hub in the appropriate direction with a pencil or fingers.
If the label peels off, glue it or remove it completely. Otherwise, a loose sticker may cause the cassette to jam when you try to remove it from the deck. Do not insert a bent or broken audio cassette into the deck's slot.
Do not leave audio cassettes in places where they are exposed to high temperature or high humidity, such as on the top shelf of the dashboard or in the cassette deck itself, do not insert an overheated or supercooled cassette into the radio until its temperature has returned to normal.
Do not insert foreign objects into the cassette deck's output window.
Remote control for audio system operation
The remote control consists of three buttons and allows you to control the operation of the radio without removing the steering wheel hands. The upper and lower buttons of the remote control allow you to adjust the volume of the sound, increasing it, - button (tt), or decreasing - button (uu). Press the appropriate button and hold until the sound volume reaches the desired level.
Button "AUDIO/CH" (Switching audio modes) performs three functions depending on what is being listened to at a given time: a radio receiver, a magnetic recording, or a CD recording.
When listening to the radio, the button "AUDIO/CH" allows you to switch to other radio stations. Each time you press the button, the radio receiver switches to the next station stored in the receiver's memory in the selected frequency range. At the same time, the image of the number of the selected radio station is displayed on the front panel display of the radio. To switch to another frequency band, press the radio band switch button located on the front panel of the radio.
When playing a magnetic recording, pressing the button "AUDIO/CH" advances to the next recording on the tape. At the moment the button is pressed, a flashing inscription appears on the display of the front panel of the radio"FF". The tape pause will be skipped and the system will proceed to play the next recording.
If listening to a CD button "AUDIO/CH" allows you to skip to playback of the recording from the next track. At the same time, the number of the disc and track from which the recording is played is displayed on the display of the stereo radio.
Car radio security system
On models equipped with such a system, disconnecting the audio system from the power source for any reason leads to its blocking. In order to unlock the system, you must enter a five-digit code using the radio tuning buttons for pre-selected stations. Since there are hundreds of thousands of such combinations, it is almost impossible to unlock the system without knowing the correct code.
When installing an audio system on a car, the owner receives a special card with the code and serial number of the stereo system. The compilers of this Guide strongly advise you to keep the card in a safe and secure place. Enter the serial number of the audio system in a notebook and keep it with other documents outside the vehicle. A new card to replace a lost one can be obtained at Honda Authorized Service Stations upon presentation of the serial number.
In the event of a discharge or disconnection of the battery, the audio system will inevitably block. In this case, when the system is turned on, the front panel display of the radio shows the inscription "Code" (Code). Use the setting buttons to enter the desired five-digit code. If the code is entered correctly and identified by the audio system, it starts to function normally.
If a mistake is made when entering the code, do not try to correct it by pressing the buttons again - first finish entering the wrong combination, and only then enter the correct code. You have ten attempts to enter the code. If during ten attempts it was not possible to dial the correct code, repeated attempts can be made no earlier than an hour later.
After unlocking the system, you must reprogram the radio's memory to receive your favorite radio stations, as disconnecting the power will clear the audio system's memory.
