1. Remove the reversing light switch. Remove the reverse idler gear shaft bolt and washer.

2. Remove the gear shift lever cover assembly. Remove the bolt from the retainer and retaining pin. Pull out the retaining pin, remove the gear shift lever with boot, gear shift lever arm, oil seal and retainer from the gearbox housing. Inspect the bore and retaining protrusions of the gear shift lever arm, gear shift lever and retainer for scoring, peeling metal, cracks and wear.
3. Unscrew the bolts securing the gearbox housing from the clutch housing.
4. Remove the 32mm seal bolt from the rear of the crankcase.
5. Through the hole, loosen the retaining ring of the ball bearing on the secondary shaft and remove it from the groove.

6. Lift the gearbox housing off the clutch housing.
7. Remove the oil groove, thrust gasket(s) and oil guide plate from the crankcase.
8. Before removing the reverse shift fork, measure the gap between the reverse shift fork and the 5th/reverse shift shaft latch pin. The tolerance is 0.05-0.5 mm. If the tolerance is not met, measure the width of the L-shaped groove in the reverse shift fork. The maximum allowable width is 7.25 mm. If the width is greater, replace the fork.
9. Measure the clearance between the reverse intermediate gear and the shift fork. The tolerance is 0.05-1.8 mm. If the tolerance is not met, remove the fork and measure the distance between the fork dogs. The tolerance is 13.0-13.3 mm. If the distance tolerance is not met, replace the fork.
10. Remove the reverse shift fork if it has not already been removed. Remove the secondary shaft and reverse idler gear from the clutch housing.

11. Remove the primary shaft and secondary shaft assemblies together with the shift fork assembly with thrust washer.
12. Remove the differential assembly from the clutch housing.
13. Remove the input shaft bearing and oil seal from the clutch housing (clutch side).
14. Remove the secondary shaft needle bearing from the clutch housing using the 07736-A01000A adjustable bearing puller and a hammer.
15. Remove the differential oil seals.
