Water Pump — Checking and Replacing (Honda HR-V 1)

Examination



1. Remove the timing belt.

2. Make sure the water pump rotates counterclockwise.

3. Check for signs of leakage through the seal.

Note: A slight leak from the bleed nipple is considered normal.


Replacement



1. Remove the timing belt.

2. Remove the water pump by unscrewing five bolts.

Note: Check, repair and clean the O-ring groove and the contact surface with the cylinder block.


3. Install the water pump in the reverse order of removal.

Note:
  • Hold the O-ring when installing.
  • Wipe up any spilled engine coolant.
