Diagnostic trouble code*: This is the number of flashes (blinks) of the D indicator lamp when the diagnostic connector is shorted.
If the self-diagnosis indicator lamp D does not flash, check according to the following table.

| The D indicator lamp does not come on for two seconds after the ignition key is turned to the ON (II) position. | - |
| The transmission does not shift to S mode when the mode switch is on. | Check the mode switch. |
| When S mode is selected in position D, the S indicator lamp does not light. | Check the S-mode indicator lamp circuit. |
| It is not possible to move the selector lever from position P when the brake pedal is depressed (KQ, KU models only). | Check the gear shift interlock system. |
| It is not possible to turn the ignition key from the ACC (I) position to the LOCK (0) position when the selector lever is in the P position (KQ, KU models only). | Check the key lock system. |
Note:
- If symptoms for code 6 are present, the symptom will need to be simulated by road testing, then retested for the DTC.
- Sometimes the warning light and the malfunction indicator light (MIL) may come on at the same time. In this case, repair the malfunction in the PGM-FI main relay system according to the trouble code, then reset the memory by removing the BACK UP fuse from the under-dash fuse/relay box for 10 seconds. Drive the vehicle at a speed of more than 50 km/h (31 mph), then recheck for the trouble code.
