Diagnostic trouble code*: This is the number of flashes (blinks) of the D indicator lamp when the diagnostic connector is shorted.

If the self-diagnosis indicator lamp D does not flash, check according to the following table.

SignExamination
The D indicator lamp lights continuously (does not flash) when the ignition key is turned to the ON (II) position.-
The D indicator lamp does not come on for two seconds after the ignition key is turned to the ON (II) position.-
The transmission does not shift to S mode when the mode switch is on.Check the mode switch.
When S mode is selected in position D, the S indicator lamp does not light.Check the S-mode indicator lamp circuit.
It is not possible to move the selector lever from position P when the brake pedal is depressed (KQ, KU models only).Check the gear shift interlock system.
It is not possible to turn the ignition key from the ACC (I) position to the LOCK (0) position when the selector lever is in the P position (KQ, KU models only).Check the key lock system.

Note:
  • If symptoms for code 6 are present, the symptom will need to be simulated by road testing, then retested for the DTC.
  • Sometimes the warning light and the malfunction indicator light (MIL) may come on at the same time. In this case, repair the malfunction in the PGM-FI main relay system according to the trouble code, then reset the memory by removing the BACK UP fuse from the under-dash fuse/relay box for 10 seconds. Drive the vehicle at a speed of more than 50 km/h (31 mph), then recheck for the trouble code.
