1. steering column ball bearing; 2. shock-absorbing plates; 3. fixing cuff; 4. Steering column bearings
1. Move the tilt lever from the relaxed position to the fixed position three to five times; then measure the tilt arm preload at 10 mm from the end of the arm. Preload: 70-90 N (7-9 kgf).
1. dynamometer (available for sale); 2. tilt adjustment stop bolt tighten the stop bolt with the lever raised; 3. stop bolt 6 mm, 9.8 Nm (1.0 kgf/m); 4. limiter; 5.0 mm
2. If the measurement is not as specified, adjust the preload as follows:
- Loosen the tilt adjustment lever and place the steering column in the neutral position.
- Loosen the 6mm locking bolt and remove the stopper. Do not loosen the tilt adjustment lever when installing the stopper or tightening the lock bolt.
- Adjust the preload by turning the tilt adjustment stop bolt left or right.
- Pull the tilt adjustment lever to its highest position and engage the stopper. Check the preload again. If the measurement still differs from the specified value, repeat the above adjustment procedure.
