Replacing the steering column lock (Honda HR-V 1)

1. Remove the steering column (see above).

2. Punch the two shear bolts and drill out their heads with a 5 mm drill. Be careful not to damage the switch housing when removing the shear bolts.

3. Remove the shear bolts from the switch housing.

4. Install the switch housing without inserting the key into it.

5. Install new shear bolts.

6. Insert the ignition key and check whether the steering wheel lock works properly and whether the ignition key turns freely.

7. Tighten the shear bolts until their hex heads break off.
