Power Steering Pump — Disassembly (Honda HR-V 1)

Perform disassembly taking into account the following:
  • The power steering components are made of aluminum. Do not damage them during assembly.
  • Clean disassembled parts with solvent and dry with compressed air. Do not wash rubber parts in solvent.
  • Always replace O-rings and rubber seals with new ones before assembly.
  • Apply recommended power steering fluid to parts as specified in assembly procedures.
  • Prevent dust, dirt and other foreign materials from entering the power steering system.
  • If parts marked with an asterisk (*) are worn or damaged, replace the pump assembly.

1. Drain the liquid from the pump.

2. Secure the power steering pump in a vice with soft jaws, secure the pulley with an extension, unscrew the pulley nut and remove the pulley. Do not damage the pump body with the vice jaws.

3. Loosen the flow control valve cap with an Allen key and unscrew it.

4. Remove the O-ring, flow control valve and spring.

5. Unscrew the supply nipple and remove the O-ring.

6. Remove the pump cover and pump cover seal.

7. Remove the outer side plate, pump cam ring, pump impeller, pump vanes, side plate and O-rings.

8. Remove the ring clamp, then remove the pump drive shaft by tapping the end of the shaft with a plastic hammer.

9. Remove the pump seal spacer sleeve and seal.
