1. Remove the tension pins by pressing on the retainer springs and turning them.

Assembly



1. Apply brake cylinder grease (P/N: 08733-B020R) or equivalent rubber lubricant to the sliding surface of the axle and insert the axle into the shoe.

2. Install the parking brake lever and wave washer onto the axle and secure with a U-clamp.

Note: To prevent the axle from coming off the brake shoe, tighten the U-clamp securely.

3. Connect the parking brake cable to the parking brake lever.

4. Apply lubricant to each sliding surface.
  • Apply brake cylinder grease (P/N: 08733-B020E) or equivalent rubber lubricant to the sliding surfaces as shown in the illustration.
  • Apply Molykote 44MA grease to the ends of the brake pads and the opposite edges of the pads as shown in the figure in the right column above.

5. Clean the threaded areas of earrings A and B. Apply grease to the threads of the earrings. Shorten the earring by turning the adjuster bolt.

7. Install the A and B clevises and the upper return spring taking into account the installation direction. Do not damage the dust covers of the working cylinders.

8. Install the lower return spring.

9. Install the tension pins and retainer springs.

10. Install the brake drum.

11. If the slave cylinder is removed, bleed the brake system (see above) and check for leaks in the brake line fittings and tighten if necessary.

12. Press the brake pedal several times until the self-adjusting brake reaches the working position.

13. Adjust the parking brake (see above).
