2. Check the brake shoe friction linings for cracks, oil, wear or contamination.
3. Measure the thickness of the brake pad friction linings.

Thickness of brake pad friction linings:
- Standard: 4.0 mm
- Limit: 2.0 mm
Note: The measurement does not include the brake pad thickness.
4. If the thickness of the brake shoe friction linings is less than the limit value, replace the linings as an assembly.
5. Check that the bearings in the hub assembly rotate smoothly.
6. Measure the inside diameter of the brake drum using a caliper.
Inner diameter of drum:
- Standard: 199.9-200.0 mm
- Limit: 201.0 mm

7. If the inner diameter of the brake drum exceeds the limit value, replace the brake drum.
8. Check the brake drum for scratches, gouges and cracks.
