Withdrawal
1. Disconnect the wire from the negative battery terminal.
2. Remove the air cleaner cover.
3. Disconnect the intake and hot air hoses from the air cleaner.
4. Disconnect the vacuum lines from the air cleaner and mark their positions for correct reassembly. Disconnect the breather hose from the valve cover.
5. Remove the air cleaner mounting nuts and the air cleaner itself.
6. Disconnect the vacuum lines and electrical connectors from the carburetor and mark their positions for correct reassembly.
7. Disconnect the throttle cable. Disconnect the throttle cable and/or cruise control cables if the car is equipped with them.
8. Disconnect and plug fuel lines.
9. Remove the carburetor mounting nuts and the carburetor itself.
On 1988-89 models. the base of the carburetor, or insulator, contains the screen of the fuel vaporizer system (EFE). The grid is heated electrically and helps to evaporate the fuel mist during cold start. The screen must be protected from damage during disassembly.
For installation:
10. Install the carburetor on the insulator. Be careful not to allow dirt to enter the EFE screen. Tighten the carburetor mounting nuts to 24 Nm. Connect fuel lines and secure with clips.
12. Attach throttle and/or cruise control cables if removed. Connect and adjust the throttle cable.
13. Install the vacuum lines in their places, especially checking the correct connection.
14. Attach electrical connectors.
15. Install the air cleaner. Connect the intake and hot air hoses to it, the hose (And) breather and vacuum lines.
16. Connect the wire to the negative battery terminal. Start the engine and adjust it if necessary.
