1. When performing these tests, the engine must be cold.
2. Remove the air cleaner.
3. To set the throttle valve, press the accelerator all the way down and release it smoothly. The valve should close completely. If the engine temperature is above 28°C, the valve will not close completely (but should close within 3 mm of being completely closed).
4. If the throttle closes normally, continue testing the fast idle release.
5. If the choke does not close completely, carefully check the linkage for dirt or binding. Spray the linkage with carburetor cleaner and repeat the test.
6. If the throttle still does not operate properly, remove the throttle cover and check what is preventing the linkage from moving.
7. If the throttle still does not work, replace the throttle cover.
