1. Block the front wheels securely.
2. Raise and secure the rear of the vehicle.
3. Remove the rear wheel.
4. Remove the clip holding the rear brake hose.
5. Remove the stabilizer from the lower arm.
6. Loosen the lower arm pivot bolt.
7. Loosen the torque rod nut and bolt securing the hub to the lower arm.
8. Remove the retaining bolt holding the stand base.
9. Remove the three nuts securing the top of the strut. Lower the suspension and remove the strut.
Disassembly
10. Install the spring puller on the spring. Tighten the puller just enough to remove the force of the spring on the top cup.
11. With the spring compressed, remove the central nut. Use the correct size hex wrench to keep the shaft from rotating while loosening the nut.
12. Remove the top mount. Carefully remove the seals, gaskets, bearing, and other components at the top of the rack; save their order for correct subsequent assembly. Remove the compressed spring of the next assembly. Remove the compressed spring.
13. If the spring needs to be checked or replaced, slowly release the tension on the puller arms. Remove the tool when the spring is released to normal length.
14. Manually check the shock absorber for smooth operation over the entire stroke. Check it also for smoothness for short (50-100 mm) blows. Replace the assembly if you feel any sign of unevenness or binding.
For installation:
15. Place the stand assembly upright. If a vise is used, place something between their jaws to avoid damage.
16. Install the restrictor, boot and dust cover. Install the compressed spring, making sure that its lower end is in the cup in its place.
17. Install the top cup, bushings, bearing, seals and mount.
18. Install the upper mounting base by setting the marker "OUT" against the guide tab at the bottom of the rack. Install a new axle nut; tighten it to 55 Nm.
19. Put the shock absorber in the upper mount; tighten the top fixing nuts by hand.
20. Lower the rear suspension arm and place the strut in position. Install the mounting bolt. The tab on the strut should align with the groove in the hub retainer.
21. Place a jack under the lower strut mount. Raise the jack until the entire weight of the vehicle is on the jack.
22. Tighten the lower fixing bolt to 55 Nm. Tighten the top nuts to 22 Nm.
23. Tighten the torque rod nut to 65 Nm and the lower arm pivot bolt to 55 Nm.
24. Install the anti-roll bar.
25. Install the brake hose and tighten the clamp tightly.
26. Install the rear wheel. Lower the car to the ground.
