1. Unscrew the VTC oil solenoid valve (A).

Note: Install the solenoid valve in the reverse order of removal, installing a new O-ring (B), then check the following:
  • Clean and dry the contact surfaces of the VTC oil solenoid valve.
  • Apply engine oil to the O-ring.
  • Do not install the VTC oil solenoid valve while wearing knitted gloves.
  • Prevent dirt from entering the cylinder head bore.

2. Check if the VTC oil solenoid valve filter is clogged. If it is clogged, replace the VTC oil solenoid valve.
