Attention! Before proceeding with the procedures, wait until the engine has cooled down completely!
1. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery.
Warning! If the car stereo system is equipped with a security code, make sure you have the correct combination to activate the system before disconnecting the battery!
2. Remove the air hose connecting the air cleaner to the throttle body.
3. Disconnect the throttle position sensor (TPS) wiring from the throttle body (see Chapter Engine management). Label and disconnect the vacuum hoses from the throttle body.
4. Disconnect the accelerator cable from the throttle lever (see Section Removal, installation and adjusting the accelerator cable) and (if the vehicle is equipped accordingly) the throttle cable in kick-down mode.
5. Disconnect the coolant hoses from the throttle body. Immediately plug the open ends of the hoses to minimize coolant loss.
6. Loosen the 4 mounting nuts, separate the throttle body from the intake manifold and remove the sealing gasket. Carefully scrape off traces of the old gasket from the mating surfaces of the throttle body and the air duct pressure chamber.
