Note. The rear hub is combined with the wheel bearing into a single assembly. The bearing is sealed at the factory and does not require additional lubrication. If the bearing is worn or damaged, it must be replaced complete with the hub.
1. Loosen the nuts on the appropriate rear wheel. Jack up the back of the car and place it on jack stands. Remove the wheel.
2. Remove the brake drum/caliper with disc (see chapter Brake system).
3. Using a hammer and chisel, remove the dust cover, then caulk out the hub nut.
4. Using a socket wrench with a long collar, give the hub nut.
5. Remove the hub with the wheel bearing mounted in it from the hub assembly of the rear axle. If the hub "got used to", tap it with a soft-faced hammer.
6. Install the new hub assembly with bearing in its proper place. Tighten the new hub nut to the required torque. Don't forget to lock the nut.
7. Replace the dust cover, lightly tapping around the perimeter to secure the fit.
8. Further installation is carried out in the reverse order to the dismantling of the components. Make sure that the fasteners of the brake components are tightened to the required torque (see Specifications to Chapter Brake system). The tightening forces of the wheel nuts are given in the Specifications for the Chapter Settings and ongoing maintenance.
