The pump section consists of a rotor, rollers and a separator. When the rotor rotates, the rollers turn and move along the inner surface of the pump separator under the action of centrifugal force and entrain the fuel.
Gasoline vapors are explosive. Remove components slowly to prevent falling. Do not smoke or work near open flames. Have a dry powder fire extinguisher handy.
1. Turn off the ignition; leave it switched off during the entire time of work.
2. Remove the carpet in the trunk area and remove the maintenance cover on the left.
3. Disconnect the electrical wires from the pump.
4. Label and then disconnect the fuel lines.
5. After unscrewing the fixing nuts, remove the pump from the tank.
The pump is mounted at an angle and may require some force to remove. If the pump still does not come out, loosen the fuel tank mounting nuts under the vehicle; move the tank down a bit to get more free play at the top.
6. Install the pump, tightening the nuts evenly and alternately to 6 Nm.
7. Install fuel lines. Use new clips if necessary.
8. Connect wires.
9. Install service cover.
10. Lay the rug.
11. Start the engine; it may take longer to crank than normal until the fuel line pressure is established.
