Throttle Cable — Prelude 1984-87 (Honda Accord 3)

1. The throttle cable should operate smoothly and without sticking.

2. Check the free play of the cable when connected (the cable should move freely by 4.7-9.5 mm between the lock nut and the lever).

3. If the deviation is different, loosen the lock nut. Turn the adjusting nut to tighten or loosen the cable as needed. After adjustment, tighten the lock nut.

4. Check the throttle valve while your assistant presses the gas pedal to the floor. The valve should be fully open. Check carefully that you see the valve open fully and that it stops in the vertical position. Also, the throttle valve should close quickly and smoothly when you release the gas pedal.

5. If the vehicle is equipped with an automatic transmission, adjust the throttle control cable.
