1. The front and rear main seals are retained on the crankshaft by end caps; they are released and removed with the crankshaft. When reassembling, apply non-hardening grease to the seams where the cover meets the block before installing the seals. The rear oil seal on these engines is located inside a separate housing at the rear of the engine. The seal can be easily removed with the housing or right cover removed. Coat the ends of the seal with a light coat of clean oil. Install the seal using a drift. Install the right cover, tighten the bolts to 12 Nm.
