2. Oil seals are located on both sides of the gearbox housing at the points where the drive shafts are inserted into them. Jack up the car and place it on jack stands. A sign of oil leakage through the stuffing box are drips on the walls of the gearbox housing directly under the drive shafts.
3. Remove the drive shaft (s) (see chapter Clutch and drive shafts).
4. Using a pry bar or a large flat-blade screwdriver, pry the old oil seal out of its seat in the transmission case
5. If it is not possible to remove the oil seal with a pry bar or a screwdriver, you should use a special puller (ask at car accessories stores).
6. Using a socket head of the appropriate size or a piece of pipe of a suitable diameter as a mandrel, seat a new oil seal in its regular place. Make sure that the gland is planted in the socket strictly perpendicular and to the full depth. Lubricate the oil seal lips with gear oil.
Note. The mandrel should rest only on the hard outer edge of the end face of the stuffing box.
7. Reinstall the drive shaft (s), - try not to damage the lips of the new oil seal (ov).
