1. After performing any procedures involving disconnecting the power steering lines, the PAS hydraulic circuit must be purged of air. Otherwise, the efficiency of the power steering will be significantly reduced.

2. Turn the front wheels of the vehicle to the straight-ahead position and check the fluid level in the PAS system reservoir (see Chapter Settings and ongoing maintenance). If necessary, make the appropriate adjustments (the liquid level should reach the lower mark [COLD] on the tank wall).

3. Start the engine and let it run at fast idle speed. Check the fluid level in the PAS reservoir again. Adjust again if necessary.

4. By rotating the steering wheel from side to side (without hitting the ends of the stroke), remove air from the system (make sure that the fluid level in the reservoir does not fall below the permissible limit during bleeding).

5. Once bleeding is complete, return the wheels to the straight-ahead position and let the engine run for a few more minutes, then turn it off.

6. Carry out road tests of the vehicle, checking the serviceability and quiet operation of the steering system.

7. Check the hydraulic fluid level again with the engine warmed up to normal operating temperature (this time it should reach the HOT mark on the tank wall). If necessary, make the necessary adjustments (see Chapter Settings and ongoing maintenance).
