These operations require the removal and installation of a large number of small parts. Some operations can be performed either from above or from below, depending on the length of your arms and your dexterity. If you are performing operations from below and need to lift the car, always securely support it, do not simply leave it on the jack.
Removal
1. Place a dry, clean container under the radiator, remove the drain plug at the front of the engine block and drain the coolant below the water pump.
2. Loosen and remove the water pump drive belt.
3. Remove the pulley bolts and remove the pulley itself.
4. Remove the pump retaining bolts, pump and O-ring.
5. Clean the contact surfaces.
To install:
6. Using a new O-ring, install the pump into the engine block. Make sure the O-ring is not deformed or displaced.
7. Install the mounting bolts, tightening them to 12 Nm.
8. Install the pulley and pulley bolts, tightening them to 12 Nm.
9. Install the drive belt and adjust its tension. Do not overtighten the belt.
10. Fill the cooling system.
