If necessary, apply the parking brake.
Caution: Do not press the accelerator and brake pedals simultaneously. Also, do not stop the vehicle on an incline by pressing the accelerator pedal when the automatic transmission selector lever is not in the P or N position, as this may overheat the transmission and damage it.
Note:
- When stopped on an incline, the vehicle may roll backwards. In this case, apply the parking brake.
- If the automatic transmission selector lever is not in position P or N and the air conditioning is on, press the brake pedal harder to stop the vehicle, since the vehicle's traction force increases as a result of the increased engine speed.
2. If the stop is long, move the selector lever to position N.
Caution: Do not increase the engine speed while stopped, as the vehicle may move abruptly if the automatic transmission selector lever is not in position P or N.
