Apply the parking brake if necessary.
Attention: Do not press the gas pedal and the brake pedal at the same time. Also, do not stop the vehicle on a hill by depressing the accelerator when the automatic transmission selector lever is not in P or N, as the transmission may overheat and damage it.
Note:
- During a stop on a hill, the vehicle may roll backwards. In this case, apply the parking brake.
- If the automatic transmission selector lever is not in the P or N position and the air conditioner is on, depress the brake pedal harder to stop the vehicle, as the vehicle's tractive effort increases as a result of the increase in engine speed.
2. If the stop is long, move the selector lever to position N.
Attention: Do not increase the engine speed while stopped, because if the automatic transmission selector lever is not in the P or N position, the vehicle may move abruptly.
