Attention.
- Use wires with a large cross section for testing (the same or larger section as that of the e / wiring of the car starter).
- Perform each check for no more than 5 seconds.
- Perform the test with a fully charged battery.
Checking the reel for retraction
If, when connected as shown in the figure, the pinion gear pops out, the coil is good.
Reel hold test
After the coil core is retracted, disconnect the wire from terminal M. If the drive gear does not return to its original state, the coil is working.
Return check
From the hold test status, disconnect the wire from the body. The drive gear should immediately return to its original position.
Checking starter operation without load
1. Fix the starter in a vise and connect the battery as shown.
2. If the current and speed are correct, the starter is OK.
- Standard current: below 80A
- Standard speed: 2600/min. and higher
Attention.
- Take a current reading when the meter reading stabilizes.
- Use a fully charged battery.
