Attention.
- For testing, use wires with a larger cross-section (the same or larger cross-section as the car starter wiring).
- Perform each check for no more than 5 seconds.
- Perform the test with a fully charged battery.
Checking the reel for retraction
If the drive gear pops out when connected as shown in the figure, the coil is good.

Checking the coil for retention
After the coil core has been retracted, disconnect the wire from contact M. If the drive gear does not return to its original position, the coil is in good condition.

Check for return
From the hold test state, disconnect the wire from the housing. The pinion should instantly return to its original position.

Checking the starter operation without load
1. Secure the starter in a vice and connect the battery as shown in the figure.
2. If the current and speed are normal, the starter is working properly.

- Standard current: below 80A
- Standard speed: 2600/min and above
Attention.
- Take a current reading when the meter reading has stabilized.
- Use a fully charged battery.
