2. DTCs are cleared only when certain procedures are performed in a certain sequence, and are not cleared in the following cases.
- If the ignition key is in the OFF position or after disconnecting the battery
- After returning the system to a healthy state
3. The number of DTCs stored in memory is not limited, but the same DTC is written on top of each other, i.e. when the same malfunction is detected repeatedly, one code is recorded.
4. DTCs are displayed in sequence regardless of the order in which the faults occurred.
5. DTCs are read in the prescribed sequence.
Self-diagnosis
1. Self-diagnosis is divided into two categories.
- Primary diagnosis: performed immediately after starting the engine until the ABS warning lamp turns off.
- Normal Diagnosis: Runs from the time the Primary Diagnosis is completed until the ignition key is turned to the OFF position.
2. When a malfunction is detected, the system performs the following actions.
- Turns on the ABS warning light.
- Stores the DTC in memory.
- Stops work, ABS systems (also stops the EBD system depending on the nature of the fault).
Recoil (kick back)
1. During the operation of the ABS system, the e / engine is running. Since brake fluid under pressure enters the master cylinder during operation of the e / engine from the reservoir, kickback occurs. Therefore, during the occurrence of kickback, you must continue to press the brake pedal in the same way as on models without ABS.
Electric pump motor
1. The pump motor is running while the ABS system is running.
2. The ABS control unit checks the operation of the e / engine during its acceleration immediately after turning the ignition key to the ON position. At this point, a faint sound may be heard, but this is not a malfunction.
Brake fluid change and air bleeding
Changing the brake fluid and bleeding air is carried out in the same way as on models without an ABS system.
Troubleshooting
1. Diagnosis is carried out after the ABS warning lamp lights up as a result of a malfunction. If you carry out diagnostics when the control lamp is off, you can get an incorrect result.
2. Create conditions as close as possible to the conditions under which the warning light came on. The burning time of the ABS warning lamp associated with the self-diagnosis varies widely depending on whether the initial diagnosis or it is carried out during or at the end of the ABS system, at the beginning of the movement or while driving at a speed of 30 km / h, the malfunction lasts for several seconds or several minutes. Therefore, if you do not create the appropriate conditions, determining the nature of the malfunction becomes impossible.
3. If during the test drive no malfunction occurs and the ABS warning lamp does not light up, it can be assumed that the connectors are not securely connected, therefore, before diagnosing, make sure that the connectors are securely connected, and also disconnect the connectors and visually check the condition of the contacts.
4. After troubleshooting, clear the DTCs, test drive and check that the ABS warning lamp does not come on.
5. In the drawings, connectors «Mother» circled with single lines, and the connectors «dad» - double lines.
Reading DTCs
Reading DTCs (number of flashes of the ABS warning lamp) can be done with a Honda PGM tester connected to the 16-pin diagnostic socket and transferring and shorting the SCS line (during the closing of the SCS line, the ignition key is moved from the OFF position to the ON position. (II)). It is also possible to read DTCs using the diagnostic connector box (DLC) in the manner described below.
Reading DTCs using the DLC terminal box
1. With the ignition key in the OFF position, connect the DLC terminal box to the 16-pin diagnostic socket.
2. Jumper pins No. 4 and 9 of the DLC terminal box with a jumper and press the switch.
3. Without depressing the brake pedal, turn the ignition key to the ON position (II).
4. The ABS warning lamp will come on for 2 seconds, then turn off and the DTC will begin to set (see below). After reading the code is entered into memory.
- If the DTC is not stored, the warning lamp comes on after 3.6 seconds.
- If the ABS warning lamp is on, carry out troubleshooting when «The ABS warning lamp does not go out» (see below).
- If no DTC is set, there is an open SCS line (from the ABS control unit to the diagnostic socket and to «masses»). In addition, if the DTC is set without the DLC terminal box being connected, it can be assumed that the SCS line is shorted to «mass».
5. Turn the ignition key to the OFF position and remove the DLC terminal box.
Clearing DTCs
Clearing DTCs can be done with a Honda PGM tester connected to the 16-pin diagnostic socket and shorting the SCS line (while closing the SCS line, the ignition key is moved from the OFF position to the ON position (II)). It is also possible to clear DTCs using the diagnostic connector box (DLC) (available for sale) in the manner described below.
Clearing DTCs using the DLC terminal box
1. With the ignition key in the OFF position, connect the DLC terminal box to the 16-pin diagnostic socket.
2. Jumper pins No. 4 and 9 of the DLC terminal box with a jumper and press the switch.
3. While depressing the brake pedal, turn the ignition key to the ON position (II).
4. After the ABS warning lamp goes out, release the brake pedal.
5. If the ABS warning lamp comes on, depress the brake pedal again.
6. If the ABS warning lamp goes out, release the brake pedal again.
7. If the ABS warning lamp flashes twice after these procedures, the DTCs have been cleared. If the ABS warning lamp does not flash twice, repeat the erasing procedure from the beginning. If the warning lamp comes on and stays on after flashing twice, a malfunction was detected during initial diagnosis before the DTCs were cleared. Check the DTC.
8. Turn the ignition key to the OFF position and remove the DLC terminal box.

Troubleshooting procedure
The brake warning light does not go out
*1
DTCs: 12, 14, 16, 18
Turn the ignition key to OFF —> ON (II), turn off the ABS warning lamp at a speed of approx. 30 km/h. If the lamp does not go out even while driving, the following can be assumed.
- Drive wheel rotates on one side only or only 2 drive wheels rotate
- The car is turning
- Interference-signal
