Attention! Proceed with the procedure only after the final cooling of the power unit.
Withdrawal
1. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery.
Attention! If the stereo system installed in the car is equipped with a security code, before disconnecting the battery, make sure that you have the correct combination to activate the audio system!
2. Saturate manifold fasteners with penetrating compound.
3. Chock the rear wheels. Set the parking brake and move the AT selector lever to the position "R". Jack up the front of the car and place it on jack stands. Remove the bottom splash shield.
4. Disconnect from final collectors reception pipes of system of release of the fulfilled gases.
Note. It would also be wise to impregnate pipe fasteners with a penetrating compound in advance.
5. Remove the mounting bolts and remove the heat shields from the exhaust manifolds (it is also advisable to pre-impregnate the fasteners with a penetrating compound).
6. Give self-locking nuts and remove collectors from heads of cylinders.
Note. Self-locking nuts during assembly must be replaced without fail.
7. Carefully inspect both collectors and their fasteners for cracks and other mechanical damage, replace defective parts.
Installation
1. Using a scraper, remove any sealant residues and traces of old gasket material from the mating surfaces of the exhaust manifolds and cylinder heads. Wipe the surfaces with a cloth soaked in acetone. If leaks are suspected, check the flatness of the manifolds, if necessary, return the deformed components to the groove.
2. Put on new linings on the fixing hairpins which are closed up in heads of cylinders.
3. Install manifolds, lubricate studs with engine oil and install new self-locking mounting nuts. Working from the center of the manifold outward, moving from one fastener to another in a diagonal pattern, tighten the nuts to the required torque in three steps.
Note. Collectors are provided with identification marks in the form of letters "F" (front) And "R" (rear), not allowing to confuse the components.
4. The remaining components are installed in the reverse order of their dismantling.
5. Start the engine and check it for signs of exhaust gas leaks through the joints of the exhaust manifolds with the cylinder heads and downpipes of the exhaust system.
