Front seats
In chapter Elements of car security systems provides important information on safety and correct adjustment of seats, seat backs and head restraints.
Adjust the seat before driving.
To adjust the seat longitudinally, lift the lock lever located at the front under the seat cushion and, while holding it up, slide the seat assembly forward or backward to a comfortable position, then release the lever. To check if the seat is secure, try moving it back and forth.
To change the angle of the seatback, lift the release lever located on the side of the seat cushion base on the door side, and while holding it up, bring the backrest to a comfortable position, then release the lever. The backrest locks into the new position automatically.
Some versions of the car provide for the possibility of adjusting the height of the seat cushion. Adjustment is made using the release lever, which is located on the left side of the base of the seat cushion. Pull the lever up to bring the seat cushion to a comfortable position, then lower the lever. Fixing the pillow in a new position occurs automatically.
On some models, the design of the back of the driver's seat also allows you to adjust the position of its lumbar. Adjustment is carried out using a rotary knob located on the side surface of the seat back, on the inside of it. On R-class models, the lumbar adjustment of the driver's seat backrest is performed by pumping. Pumping is carried out by compressing the spring of a special air pump, in order to bleed air, press the release button.
Models with power driver's seat adjustment
Some models are equipped with an electric driver's seat adjustment. The control panel for the functioning of the electric drive with two switches is located on the left at the base of the seat cushion. The combined extended slide switch serves to adjust the position of the seat in the longitudinal and vertical directions. The smaller switch adjusts the backrest angle.
Seat adjustment can be made in any position of the key in the ignition lock and must be carried out before driving.
To adjust the position of the seat in the longitudinal direction, move the extended slide switch on the control panel for the operation of the electric drive in the appropriate direction.
Adjusting the height of the position of the front and rear edges of the seat cushion is carried out by pressing the front or rear ends of the slide switch in the appropriate direction.
Cushion assembly height adjustment is made by moving the entire slide switch up or down.
The backrest is adjusted using a smaller switch located behind the first extended switch.
Headrests
Head restraints help prevent neck and head injuries in a rear-end collision. In order for head restraints to perform their protective functions effectively, they must be properly adjusted.
Adjust the height of the head restraints so that the top of the head restraint cushion is flush with the top edge of the ear. If this is not possible for tall passengers, the head restraint should be set to the highest possible position.
On some modifications of the car, it is possible to adjust the headrests in height and angle of inclination. The head restraint is adjusted with both hands at the same time, so do not attempt to adjust the head restraint while the vehicle is moving. To raise the head restraint, simply pull it up; to lower it, push it down; changing the angle of the headrest is done by bending it to the appropriate position.
Some versions of the car provide for the presence of a push-button head restraint. With this design, in order to raise the head restraint, it is enough just to pull it up, while lowering can only be done after depressing the lock button. To remove the head restraint for cleaning or replacement, proceed as follows: lift the head restraint up to the stop, then press the release button and remove the head restraint from the seat back.
Seat heating
Some models have heated front seats. Both front seats are equipped with electric heaters that only work when the ignition is on (ignition key turned to position "ON" [II]). The heating is switched on using the corresponding push-button switch - the control lamp mounted in the button should light up. The heating is turned off by pressing the button again.
Note. Do not turn on the heated seats when the engine is not running and try not to use it for a long time when the engine is idling to avoid battery drain.
Backseat
Rear center armrest
On some models, the rear seat is equipped with a center armrest. The armrest is located in the central part of the seat and unfolds by pulling it out of the niche in the backrest, lowering it to a horizontal position!
Folding the rear seatbacks
The rear seat backrest is split in two and can be folded forward to provide direct access to the luggage compartment and allow the transport of long loads.
Each of the two sections of the backrest of the rear seat can be folded forward independently of the other. In order to fold one of the sections, open the luggage compartment lid and pull the loop of the corresponding latch towards you.
To lock the seat back in an upright position, press against the rear storage shelf, make sure that the backrest is securely locked in an upright position by pulling it towards you by the top edge.
Make sure that the rear seat belts are in their original positions when the backrests are raised.
Make sure that all objects located in the luggage compartment and protruding into the passenger compartment are securely fixed. Remember that sudden braking can cause an unsecured load to shift inadvertently.
Avoid operating the vehicle with the rear seatbacks folded down and the luggage compartment lid open to prevent exhaust fumes containing toxic carbon monoxide from entering the vehicle interior (SO).
Power windows
On suitably equipped models, the power windows operate only when the ignition is on.
On each of the doors of the car there is a switch designed to control the electric drive of the window regulator of this door. To lower the window, press down on the switch key and hold it down until the window reaches the desired position, stopping when the key is released. The glass is raised by pressing the switch key up.
On the left, on the armrest of the driver's door, there is a central control panel for the operation of the electric windows of all car doors. To lower the glass of any of the passenger doors, press down the key of the corresponding switch and keep it pressed until the glass reaches the required position. The glass is raised by pressing the button up. To raise the glass, slide the appropriate button up and hold it in that position. When the glass is in the desired position, release the switch button.
Attention! Make sure that when closing the windows, no one pinches their fingers or heads! Using the master switch, the driver can turn off the power supply to the power window circuits of all passenger doors, thereby blocking control from individual door switches. The main switch and interlock do not work on the power window of the driver's door. When transporting children, it would be wise to block the passenger door windows.
It is possible to fully lower the driver's door glass (and on some models - and full closing) by pressing the key of the corresponding switch once (auto mode). To lower or raise the window in automatic mode, firmly press the switch button in the appropriate direction. The stop can be made at any time by pressing the opposite side of the button.
Partial lowering or raising of the driver's door glass is performed by lightly pressing and holding the corresponding side of the switch button. The glass will stop as soon as the key is released. Auto reverse mode (automatic return of glass to its original position)
If the driver's door glass is raised in automatic mode and any obstacle is encountered in the way of its movement, the power window is automatically blocked, after which the glass will begin to fall down to its original position.
Even if this function is available, before using the power windows, make sure that none of the passengers have their hands or head sticking out of the window.
As a result of an accident, spontaneous activation of the auto-reverse mode may occur, which is fraught with failure of the electric drive. In such a situation, the car should be driven to a workshop for appropriate restoration work.
When automatic mode fails (for example, as a result of the discharge of the battery or its failure) with the engine running, do the following:
- a) Press the driver's door power window switch button and hold it down for additional window down;
- b) Move the driver's door power window switch up and hold it in this position until the window is completely closed, plus a few more seconds;
- c) Make sure the power windows are working properly in automatic mode.
