Requires Honda Special Tool 07HAJ-SF1020A for Central Locking Pin. It should always be installed when removing the rear steering housing or center shaft. Should also be used during rear wheel alignment.
Withdrawal
1. Raise and secure the rear of the vehicle.
2. Remove rear wheels.
3. Remove cotter pins from tie rod pivots. Loosen castle nuts by half. Separate the joint from the steering knuckle with the appropriate tool, then remove the nut and disconnect the connecting rod.
4. Near the junction of the central shaft with the rear steering gear case, shift the protective casing of the hinge to the front of the car. Remove the hitch bolt.
5. Remove the cover bolt from the crankcase. With the steering wheel level, install the center lock pin. If control is centered (and blocked), no traces of the red mark will be visible around the locking pin shaft. In any other position, it will become visible.
6. Remove 4 crankcase mounting bolts. Note that the bottom bolts are longer than the other two; then they must be correctly installed.
7. Move the rear steering gear housing to the rear of the vehicle, pulling it out above the rear beam.
For installation:
8. Put the crankcase in place.
9. Install the fixing bolts. Tighten them to 40 Nm.
10. Connect the crankshaft to the central shaft. Tighten the hitch bolt to 22 Nm and fit the hinge guard.
11. Remove the central locking pin. Install the cover bolt and washer.
12. Attach tie rods to knuckles. Tighten castle nuts to 44 Nm and install new cotter pins.
13. Install rear wheels. Lower the car to the ground.
