Power steering pump — removal and installation (Honda Accord 3)

1. Drain the fluid from the system as follows:
  • a. Disconnect the pump return hose from the tank and place the end in a large container. Plug the channel in the tank.
  • b. Start the engine and let it run at a fast idle. Turn the steering wheel from lock to lock several times until fluid stops flowing from the hose. Stop the engine immediately; do not operate the pump without liquid.
  • c. Connect the hose.

2. Disconnect the pump inlet and outlet hoses. Remove the drive belt.

3. Remove the bolts and pump.

4. Installation - in reverse order. Adjust the belt tension, fill the reservoir and pump up the system.

Reminder: Use only Honda brand power steering fluid. Any other fluid or ATF may damage the system.
