Layout of instrument cluster indicators
1 - Tachometer; 2 - Speedometer; 3 - Fuel gauge; 4 - Engine temperature gauge; 5 - Odometer (total mileage counter); 6 - Current trip meter/outside air temperature indicator; 7— Current mileage counter reset button
The diagram of the arrangement of the instrument cluster indicators is presented in the illustration.
Tachometer
The tachometer shows the engine crankshaft speed in revolutions per minute. To avoid engine failure, do not exceed the maximum permissible crankshaft speed (the tachometer needle should never enter the red zone of the scale).
Speedometer
The speedometer shows the speed of the car. The unit of measurement is usually km/h, in some cases the dial of the meter may have two scales: km/h and mph. Sometimes the car may be equipped with a signal buzzer for exceeding the permissible safe speed (120 km/h).
Fuel level indicator in the tank
The device registers the current amount of fuel in the tank. The error of the meter readings is minimal when the car is on a flat horizontal surface. When the car is moving on winding or hilly roads, the error of the device increases. When the ignition is turned off, the pointer of the indicator moves to the zero position. Immediately after turning the ignition key to the "ON" (II) position, the pointer of the indicator moves to the position corresponding to the actual amount of fuel in the tank.
Engine temperature gauge
The device registers the temperature of the engine coolant. The normal operating temperature of the engine when operating the car under normal conditions corresponds to the middle position of the pointer. Under severe operating conditions, for example, in very hot weather or during a long climb uphill, the pointer may rise to the upper red mark on the scale. If the engine temperature has increased so much that the pointer enters the red range of the meter scale (H), you should immediately stop driving, pull over to the side of the road, park the car, check the condition of the cooling systems to determine the causes of engine overheating
Odometer
The odometer records the total mileage of the vehicle in kilometers or miles, depending on the version.
Current mileage counter/outside air temperature indicator
The counter records the current mileage of the car since the last reset (in kilometers or miles, depending on the version). The counter is reset using a special button mounted in the instrument panel to the right of the speedometer assembly. On some models, the counter display can be used to display data on the outside air temperature. Switching the display of the meter is done with the button mentioned above. When the ignition is turned on, the display will show the last selected readings.
Note: Some Honda Accord models are equipped with two current mileage meters, switching between which is carried out by successive pressings of the same button. To reset the readings of one of the meters, display them on the meter display, then hold the reset button down until the value "0" appears on the screen.
The meter readings are also reset when the battery is disconnected.
