The layout of the indicators of the instrument cluster
1 - Tachometer; 2 - Speedometer; 3 - Fuel gauge; 4 - Engine temperature gauge; 5 - Odometer (total mileage counter); 6 - Kilometer of the current trip / outdoor temperature indicator; 7— Button for resetting the current mileage counter
The layout of the indicators of the instrument cluster is shown in the illustration.
Tachometer
The tachometer shows the engine speed in revolutions per minute. In order to avoid engine failure, it is forbidden to exceed the maximum permissible speed of the crankshaft (the tachometer needle should never enter the red zone of the scale).
Speedometer
The speedometer shows the speed of the vehicle. The unit of measurement is usually km / h, in some cases two scales can be applied to the meter dial: km / h and miles / h. Sometimes the vehicle may be equipped with a signal buzzer for exceeding the permissible safe speed (120 km/h).
Fuel gauge in the tank
The device registers the current amount of fuel in the tank. The error in the meter readings is minimal when the car is on a flat horizontal area. When driving on winding or hilly roads, the error of the instrument increases. When the ignition is turned off, the pointer arrow goes to the zero position. Immediately after turning the ignition key to position "ON" (II) the pointer arrow moves to the position corresponding to the actual amount of fuel in the tank.
Engine temperature gauge
The device records the temperature of the engine coolant. The normal operating temperature of the engine during normal operation of the vehicle corresponds to the middle position of the pointer. Under severe operating conditions, such as very hot weather or long uphill climbs, the pointer may rise to the upper red mark on the scale. If the engine temperature has increased so much that the pointer needle enters the red range of the meter scale (H), you should immediately stop driving, pull over to the side of the road, park the car, check the condition of the cooling systems to determine the causes of engine overheating
Odometer
The odometer records the total mileage of the vehicle in kilometers or miles, depending on the version.
Current mileage counter/outside temperature gauge
The meter records the vehicle's current mileage since the last reset (in kilometers or miles, depending on the version). The counter is reset using a special button mounted in the instrument panel to the right of the speedometer assembly. On some models, the meter display can be used to display outdoor temperature data. Switching the display of the meter is done by the button mentioned above. When the ignition is switched on, the last selected parameters will be displayed on the display.
Note. Some of the Honda Accord models are equipped with two current mileage meters, switching between them is carried out by successive pressing of the same button. To reset the readings of any of the counters, display them on the meter display, then hold the reset button pressed until the value appears on the screen "ABOUT".
Zeroing of the readings of the meters also occurs when the battery is disconnected.
