The clutch is self-adjusting to compensate for wear. The total free travel of the clutch pedal lies in the range of 9-15 mm. If there is no clearance between the master cylinder piston and the pushrod, the release bearing presses on the diaphragm spring of the pressure plate, which leads to clutch slippage and other malfunctions.
1. Loosen the locknut on the switch "A" clutch pedals. Unscrew the switch so that it no longer touches the pedal. (Switch "A" must touch the clutch pedal at a point below the axis of rotation of the pedal.)
2. Loosen the lock nut on the master cylinder push rod and turn the push rod in or out to set the desired travel and clutch pedal height. Pedal travel should be between 135-140mm for Prelude models and 142mm for Accord models. Pedal height should be 207mm for Prelude models and 210mm for Accord models.
3. Tighten the pusher locknut.
4. Screw the switch "A" until it starts to touch the pedal, then turn it another 1/4-1/2 turn.
5. Tighten the locknut on the switch.
