If you are experiencing strange steering response or poor road handling, the first place to look is your tires. While tires themselves can wear out as a result of alignment issues, sometimes worn or under-inflated tires can cause you to make adjustments that are not necessary.
Once you have eliminated all other causes, unload everything from the trunk (except the spare tire), bring the tire pressure to normal, and begin adjusting. Since adjustment requires high precision, it is almost impossible to do at home.
