1. Check steering fluid level and pump belt tension.
2. Disconnect the fluid supply hose from the pump and connect a pressure gauge (special tool).
If pressure gauge 07406-0010000 is used, connect pressure regulator 07406-0010300 (special tool) between the manometer and the hinge area.
- Adapter bolt and nut tightening torque: 11 N·m (1.1 kg m)
3. Fully open shut-off valve.
4. Start the engine and leave it at idle speed.
5. Adjust the pressure control valve until the gauge needle stops.
6. Warm up the oil by turning the steering wheel left and right several times.
- Oil temperature during measurement: 45±5°C
7. Check up an arrow of a manometer. If the needle does not settle down, adjust the pressure control valve.
8. Measure the established oil pressure.
- Steady oil pressure: no more than 1500 kPa (15 kg/cm2)
If the pressure is too high, check for clogged or pinched pipes and hoses, and check the valve block.
9. Close shut-off valve and measure oil pressure.
Attention. If the valve is closed for more than 5 seconds, the pump may fail.
- Pressure with closed valve: 7200-7800 kPa (73-80 kg/cm2)
If the pressure is not as specified, replace the pump.
10. Fully open shut-off valve and stop engine.
