Note:
  • The bearing outer ring and tapered roller bearing must be replaced together.
  • When replacing a tapered roller bearing, check and adjust its preload.


1. Press out the seals from the gearbox housing and clutch housing.

2. Knock out the outer bearing race and thrust washer from the gearbox housing or press out the outer bearing race and 75mm washer from the clutch housing by heating the clutch housing to 100°C using a fan heater (figure on the top right).

Caution: Do not reuse the thrust washer after the outer race has been knocked out.

3. Using the special tool, press the thrust washer or 75mm washer and the outer bearing race into the transmission housing and clutch housing as shown in the figure.

Note:
  • Press in the outer bearing ring without tilting it.
  • Make sure there is no gap between the bearing outer race, thrust washer or 75mm washer and the crankcase.


4. Press in the oil seal (see below).
