Valves, Springs and Seats — Installation (Honda HR-V 1)

1. Insert the valves into the guide bushings; apply engine oil to valve stems before installation.

Note: Make sure the valves move freely in the guide.


2. Install the spring seats into the cylinder head.

3. Install the valve seals using a special tool (figure in the right column above).

Note: Exhaust and intake valve seals are not interchangeable.


4. Install the valve spring and valve retainer, then install the valve spring compressor. Compress the spring and install the cotters.
