A) Pull out the parking brake lever, chock the rear wheels and jack up the front of the vehicle.
b) Remove the front wheels.
A) Remove the brake pads.
G) Secure the brake disc by installing washers (A) and tightening the nuts (IN) wheel fasteners.
b) Install the dial indicator as shown in the figure.
V) While rotating the brake disc, measure the disc axial runout at the outer edge of the disc contact surface with the brake pads.
- Maximum axial runout - 0.1 mm
If the disc runout is out of specification, check the hub bearing preload and the bearing itself, adjust the preload if necessary. If the bearing preload is correct, replace or grind the brake disc.
2. Check up thickness and uniformity of wear of a brake disk.
A) Clean the surface of the brake disc in contact with the brake pads.
b) Using a micrometer, measure the thickness of the brake disc at a distance of approximately 10 mm from the edge of the disc every 45°.
Nominal Thickness:
- left hand drive models - 20.9 - 21.1 mm
right hand drive models:
- 2WD (except for 1,5T configuration) - 17 mm
- 2WD (equipment 1,5T) and 4WD - 21 mm
Minimum allowable thickness:
- left hand drive models - 19 mm
right hand drive models:
- 2WD (except for 1,5T configuration) - 15 mm
- 2WD (equipment 1,5T) and 4WD - 19 mm
V) Subtract the minimum value from the maximum measured value.
- Maximum measurement difference - 0.015 mm
If the brake disc is worn unevenly (measurement difference exceeds the maximum allowable value), grind or replace the brake disc. If the thickness of the brake disc is less than the minimum, replace the brake disc.
3. Check the thickness of the brake pads.
A) Jack up the front of the car and place it on stands.
b) Remove the front wheels.
V) Check the thickness of the brake pads.
Standard Thickness:
- 2WD (except for the configuration 1.5T) - 9.5 mm
- 2WD (equipment 1.5T) and 4WD - 9.0 mm
Minimum thickness - 1.6 mm
Internal brake pad.
External brake pad.
G) Replace brake pads as a set (right and left side at the same time), if at least one of the linings of the block has a minimum or smaller thickness.
