Examination
1. The CYP sensor is used to determine the current position of the pistons. The information it provides is used to determine the fuel injection sequence. The sensor is built into the ignition distributor assembly, and its failure results in the recording of fault codes P1381 and P1382 in the self-diagnostic system memory.

2. To check the correct operation of the CYP sensor, disconnect the distributor wiring harness and use an ohmmeter to measure the resistance between terminals 3 and 4. Compare the measurement result with the Specifications.
3. Make sure there is no conductivity between each terminal and the auto service workshop.
4. If the results of the described check are negative, replace the distributor (see Chapter Engine electrical equipment).
Replacement
The CYP sensor is built into the ignition distributor assembly and cannot be replaced individually. If the sensor fails, replace the distributor (see Chapter Engine electrical equipment).
