Examination
1. The CYP sensor is used to determine the current position of the pistons. The information it provides is used to determine the fuel injection sequence. The sensor is built into the ignition distributor assembly, its failure leads to the recording of fault codes P1381 and P1382 in the memory of the self-diagnosis system.
2. To check the correct functioning of the CYP sensor, disconnect the distributor wiring harness and use an ohmmeter to measure the resistance between terminals 3 and 4. Compare the measurement result with the requirements of the Specifications.
3. Make sure that there is no continuity between each of the terminals and the car service workshop.
4. In case of negative results of the described test, replace the distributor (see chapter Engine electrical equipment).
Replacement
The CYP sensor is built into the ignition distributor assembly and is not individually replaceable. If the sensor fails, replace the distributor (see chapter Engine electrical equipment).
