The alarm system switches to standby mode automatically fifteen seconds after all doors, the trunk lid and the hood of the car are closed. To activate the alarm system, it is necessary to lock the doors from the outside of the car: using the key, the lock button, the single lock lock switch or the remote control. The process of activating the alarm system is accompanied by the flashing of the system indicator lamp built into the fuel level/engine coolant temperature gauge assembly of the instrument cluster. After activation is complete and the anti-theft alarm system is switched to standby mode, opening any door of the car (without using the key or remote control), the trunk lid or the hood leads to the activation of the alarm. The audible alarm is also activated if an attempt is made to remove the car radio from its mounting socket in the control panel or if the electrical wiring is cut.
When the alarm is in standby mode, it is possible to open the trunk lid without triggering the alarm - to do this, you must use the main ignition key or remote control. The alarm will only be triggered if the trunk lock is broken or opened using the button located in the car on the driver's door.
The anti-theft alarm does not activate when one of the car doors, the trunk lid or the hood is not closed tightly. If the alarm does not activate, look at the door and trunk lid ajar indicator light on the car's instrument panel (see Section Vehicle equipment, arrangement of instruments and controls), then manually check if the car hood is closed.
Do not attempt to make changes to the design of the anti-theft alarm system or its individual components. This may reduce the effectiveness of the security functions of the system.
