Warning! The car models covered in this manual are equipped with an additional security system (SRS). Before doing any work near the airbag unit, steering column or instrument panel, turn off the SRS to avoid injury if it is accidentally deployed (see chapter Onboard electrical equipment). SRS circuit wiring is easily identified by the yellow color of the insulation.
If the stereo system installed in the car is equipped with a security code, before disconnecting the battery, make sure that you have the correct combination to activate the audio system!
Latch
1. Trace around the latch assembly with a marker or scriber to ensure it is properly seated during assembly. Release the latches and remove the plastic lining of the latch. Turn out from the panel of a support of a radiator fixing bolts and remove a latch.
2. Disconnect the lock release cable from the latch assembly.
3. Installation is carried out in the reverse order.
Note. Adjust the position of the latch so that the hood is securely locked in the closed position by the lock - the rubber pads of the supports should be slightly flattened.
Drive cable
1. Disconnect the hood release cable from the latch assembly.
2. Tie a piece of string to the end of the released cable and release the cable from the intermediate clamps and guides.
3. Remove the wing arch protection locker (see Section Removal and installation of front fenders).
4. In the passenger compartment, remove the main and front sections of the driver's door sill trim.
5. Turn out two fixing bolts and separate the lever of release of the lock of a cowl from a bulkhead. Disconnect the cable from the lever.
6. Push the rubber grommet through the bulkhead and pull the cable assembly into the vehicle interior. Make sure the new cable assembly is equipped with a bushing. Untie the old cable from the string and tie a replacement one in its place.
7. Pull the new cable assembly by the wire through the bulkhead into the engine compartment.
8. Connect the new cable to the lock release lever, making sure it is securely fixed in the support bracket.
9. Further assembly is carried out in the reverse order of dismantling.
Note. Use your fingers to firmly push the cable bushing into the bulkhead of the engine compartment (from the salon) - check the correct fit of the bushing in the bulkhead.
