Warning! The models of vehicles covered in this manual are equipped with a supplemental restraint system (SRS). Before performing any work near the air bag unit, steering column or instrument panel, turn off the SRS to avoid injury from accidental deployment (see Chapter On-board electrical equipment). The SRS circuit wiring is easily identified by the yellow color of the insulation.


Front bumper



1. Set the parking brake, jack up the vehicle and place it on supports.

2. Disconnect the negative battery cable and wait at least two minutes before attempting to remove the trim.

Warning! If the car stereo system is equipped with a security code, make sure you have the correct combination to activate the audio system before disconnecting the battery!


3. Under the vehicle, unscrew the screws securing the lower edges of the bumper trim.

Note: Use a small screwdriver to pry up the center sections of the plastic retainers (do not attempt to remove the center sections completely - they remain in the retainer).

4. Loosen the screws securing the top edge of the trim to the hood latch support. Remove the trim from the vehicle.



5. Installation is carried out in the reverse order. Before screwing in the threaded fasteners, make sure that the plastic clamps are securely snapped into place. If necessary, use the help of an assistant.

Note: Use a small screwdriver to pry up the center sections of the plastic clips (do not attempt to remove the center sections completely - they remain in the clip). Remove the trim from the vehicle.
