Oxygen sensor — removal and installation (Honda Accord 3)

1. Allow the exhaust system to cool before starting work; during engine operation, the pipe and sensor may heat up to over 100°C.

2. Disconnect the sensor(s) electrical wiring connector. Release the wire from any fasteners.

3. Use a special chuck to unscrew the oxygen sensor. This tool will prevent damage to the sensor or wiring.

4. If the sensor is to be reused, protect its tip from exposure to chemicals, oil, gasoline, etc.

To install:



5. Coat the sensor threads with anti-seize compound, being careful not to get any on the sensor tip.

6. Install the sensor into the manifold or exhaust pipe.

7. Tighten the sensor to 45 Nm.

8. Secure the wire and install the wiring connector.
