On carbureted 1984-89 ACCORDs, the sensor is located at the base of the intake manifold. Usually there are several other sensors and hoses next to it, but it is distinguished by its power supply by a separate wire; he alone is not accompanied by a vacuum hose. On ACCORD 1990-91 cars, the temperature sensor is located behind the cylinder head, it is the smallest of the sensors located there.
On 1984-87 PRELUDE carburetors, the temperature sensor is located low on the intake manifold, below the EGR valve. On 1988-90 PRELUDE vehicles, both carbureted and fuel injected, the sensor is located on the thermostat housing behind the cylinder head. The sensor is recognized by a single lead wire not accompanied by a vacuum hose.
1. With the ignition off and a cold engine, drain the coolant to a level obviously below the location of the sensor.
2. Disconnect wire from sensor or harness connector.
3. Remove the sensor using a wrench of the appropriate size. Save the run out coolant.
4. Install the new sensor by screwing it down to 9 Nm.
5. Connect the wiring.
6. Add coolant to the correct level.
