Pointer testing
1. Check fuse #6 before testing (7.5A) in the fuse/relay box under the dashboard on the driver's side.
2. Make sure the ignition switch is in the OFF position, then disconnect the GREEN-YELLOW wire from the coolant temperature gauge sensor and ground with a jumper wire.
3. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position (II).
Make sure that the arrow of the coolant temperature gauge begins to move towards the mark «H». Before the arrow reaches the mark «H» on the gauge scale, turn the ignition switch to the OFF position. Failure to do so may damage the pointer.
- If the pointer needle does not move at all, check for an open in the YELLOW-GREEN wire. If the wires are OK, replace the coolant temperature gauge.
- If the coolant temperature gauge is OK, test the temperature gauge sensor.
Sensor testing
1. Disconnect the GREEN-YELLOW wire from the coolant temperature gauge sensor.
2. Using an ohmmeter, measure the change in resistance between the positive terminal and the motor (earth) on a cold engine and on an engine warmed up to operating temperature.
Temperature | 56°С | 85-100°C |
Resistance, Ohm | 137 | 46-30 |
3. If the results are significantly different from the ratings above, replace the sensor.
